Hear from some truth testing professionals on how they utilize the Set-N-Seed and how it has helped their business
How has the Set-N-Seed positively impacted your experience as a farmer and planter user?
Set-N-Seed has allowed me to take all the manufacturing and human error out of the equation. Setting the exact depth that I want without taking wear or other factors into play.
Would you recommend the Set-N-Seed to others in the agriculture industry?
I recommend it to anyone I’m talking planters with. I am an equipment dealer. I started sending one with every new planter I sell. It’s that important to me.
How has the Set-N-Seed positively impacted your experience as a farmer and planter user?
As a Precision equipment dealer, Set-N-Seed has given us the confidence that the customers' planter depth setting will be true and accurate.
Have you noticed any improvements in efficiency, productivity, or results since incorporating the Set-N-Seed into your planter routine?
We have seen tremendous efficiency increases using this product. On a 16-row planter, you can correct the depth settings in 10-15 minutes or less. And that is a huge advantage especially in-season when growers are having depth issues due to incorrect settings. For example, a customer of ours had hydraulic downforce on his planter and had everything set correctly as far as electronics, so our precision team came out and did a quick depth true-up with set n seed. The customer had variations on every single row due to parts wearing out differently. Up to a 1/2” on some rows as far as variation. After using Set-N-Seed and getting his depth settings correct, the customer went back to the field and the depth accuracy was spot on.
How would you say the Set-N-Seed has improved efficiency and productivity with planters?
John Deere has always trained us product specialists in the field to understand that for each hole showing on the T-handle settings on the row-unit is equivalent to two inches of depth. But after using this tool, we confirmed that was actually way off. It was off by almost half an inch at times. We know that using even John Deere’s training, we can double-check their findings and tell our customers that actually, you need to be setting your row unit closer to this from the beginning. That’s not bashing John Deere, it’s just that iron can fluctuate. The settings can fluctuate and one-row unit might be different than another one, you know might have more weight than another. With the Set-N-Seed you have the ability to calibrate your actual depth goal.
Do you feel like it has positively impacted your experience as a farmer?
Yes, absolutely. It’s a timesaver and I know when I use it (the Set-N-Seed) it’s setting it at exactly the correct depth.
Are there any aspects of the product that you think are beneficial?
Just ease of use and knowing exactly where you’re setting your planter at. It’s simple to use and it’s easy to set different heights, depending on what you actually want to adjust your planter to.
Planter Depth can vary across the planter depending on the wear of the planter unit. Disk openers, gauge wheel arms, and rocker arms are just a few vital parts that determine your seed’s depth. By utilizing the Set-N-Seed, variations in disk size and wear will be eliminated with this planter depth calibration tool.
